Before I even start this blog, I can honestly say that this is such a gift to me. I was asked to capture some beautiful moments in my best friend's life, of some of her favorite passions - skateboarding and surfing. When I read the text asking if I would take some photographs of her, because she loves the way the sun shines in my images - I was immediately filled with so much love, and a sense of accomplishment. This girl, has been my best friend since 9th grade, and amongst the million things I know about her - one of those is that she is not one to willingly have her picture taken. So to be held in such a high honor, that my work was good enough for my friend to even consider being in front of my lens, well... you could say I was immediately humbled. It meant everything to me. It's one thing to have a new client hire you because they were recommended by a friend, or simply because they found you in a google search - but it's quite another when someone so close to you asks you, because they want to be able to show their unborn children one day, just how awesome they lived.
This Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, Zac Brown Band loving soul is one of the best women I know. Beautifully independent, laid back and full of nothing but love. Her heart is so pure, and so genuine - I can't help but feel so extremely blessed that she's been in my life as one of my favorite people for this long. We've traveled to Hawaii together, the Dominican Republic, California and more. We've endured the good times, and the bad. Amazing decisions, and not so good ones. We've surfed the waves of Hawaii, skied the slopes of New England, rode horses in the islands, and drank countless Coronas together. But most importantly of all, we've been there for each other when we needed it most.
Cheers to you, Carter - thank you for being you, each and every day, and never conforming to anything other than you. Amber is the color of your energy :) Love you, friend.
